Trekking: The range of treks,
from a day long hike to longer durations is
possible from Pahalgam. Some of treks are:
Amaranth ji (an important
Hindu pilgrimage centre), this trek has 4 stages, 1. Chandanwari (2,895 m), 16
Km, 2. Sheshnag (3,574 m),
11 Km, 3. Panchtarni (0000
m.) 13 Km, 4. To Holy Cave.
For return journey there are two option, one
can take the same route back to Pahalgam or
opt for a day long trek to Baltal, there on
drive to Srinagar via Sonamarg. Annual yatra
takes place between July and August (month of
Sawan) up to holy Amarnath Cave.
Kolahoi Glacier, This is a
fabulous trek; it has 4 to 6 stages, Aru, Lidewat,
Satlanjan, Kolahoi glacier and back. This trek
can be extended to Sindh valley (refer to Lider
valley to Sind Valley trek.
White water Rafting, thru
a short stage of river is available during summer,
for joyrides.
Golf; there is a 9-hole golf
course, the equipment can be hired from the
golf club locally.
Trout Fishing, Trout fish
( Rainbow and brown) are abundant the river
Lidder, the fishing is governed by law, a fishing
permit is required, which can be obtained from
the fisheries department in Srinagar against
fee, first come first served basis, maximum
for three days validity. The fishing tackles
can be hired locally. The season extends from
April to September.
Accommodation, there are number
of hotels, Guest houses, Huts and Camping sites
who provide luxury to basic accommodation. However,
being a hill resort, there is no star category
hotels.
